山上有水，蹇之象。行役未已，新事復起——軍役未完又有新差。姬姜勞苦，不得休止——貴族之婦亦辛勞不歇。姬、姜為周代大姓，代指家中女眷。此詩之重點非一次之苦，而是苦上加苦、事未了又起事之消耗。從蹇至益，風雷益，見善則遷。益為上予下之卦，天道補不足。此為積蹇之解方：須有由上而下之扶助。若無人出手減輕負擔，勞者終將被壓垮。
