注释
山下出泉，蒙之象也。畫龍頭頸而文章不成——有始無終，虎頭蛇尾，龍之鱗爪皆付闕如。甘言善語，說辭無名——辯才雖巧而終無實效。此為半途而廢之象：開頭華麗，結尾空洞。從蒙至噬嗑，雷電交加：噬嗑為明罰飭法之卦，要求果斷咬破阻礙。然此人只有修辭之巧而無執行之力。卦要決斷，人卻空談。蒙昧者以言辭代行動，如畫龍而不點睛，終成廢筆。
