山下有澤，損之象。「元吉無咎，安寧不殆。」此辭極簡，全為吉語——大吉無過，安然無虞。無典故，無敘事，唯安寧二字足矣。從損至臨（澤上有地），山退而地至，地臨於澤上。臨者，大以臨下，教思無窮，容保民無疆。損去多餘之後，上位者俯臨下方，自然安泰。辭之簡短正合此意：損盡冗贅，不須多言。清靜無為而天下自正。
