注释
地中生木，升之象。百里南行，雖微得明——百里奚去虞適秦之典故。晉獻公滅虞，百里奚淪為俘虜，輾轉為奴。秦穆公聞其賢，以五羖羊皮贖之於楚，拜為國卿，號「五羖大夫」。自飯牛之賤至輔國之尊，為中國政治史上最著名之逆轉。從升至坤（地勢坤，厚德載物），積小高大之升遇無疆包容之地：才德之上升需遇寬厚善任之土壤，百里奚之顯達正因穆公之識人與坤德之承載。
