民迷失道，亂我統紀。空使乾革，賓无所有。
The people are lost and stray from the way; our order and discipline are thrown into chaos. Vainly causing upheaval and change, the realm is left with nothing.

注释
地中生木，升之象。民迷失道，亂我統紀——百姓迷途失所，治國之綱紀大亂。空使乾革，賓無所有——徒然推行空洞之改革，賓客一無所獲。澤無水為困（君子以致命遂志），水盡澤枯之象——容器在而內容已空。從升至困，上升之勢入枯竭荒蕪之境：民失方向因治者失職，改革徒勞因權威之源已乾涸。木升於不能滋養之土——有長無養，有勞無功，如根入旱地，愈努力愈耗竭。升而入困，此升之悲劇也。
