The swan-goose yearns for her mate and would follow the phoenix east. She grooms and preens her feathers; she goes out, then waits for the right day. Lingering at a northern town, she returns again to her home.

雲上於天，需之待時。鵠思其雄，欲隨鳳東——雌鵠思慕其偶，欲隨鳳凰東飛。順理羽翼，出次須日——梳理羽毛，等待良辰出發。中留北邑，復反其室——行至中途，滯留於北方小邑，終返回原處。嚮往真切，準備亦足，然終究未能成行。鳳為理想之伴或命定之途，北邑為熟悉之安逸。從需至離（明兩作），等待化為雙重明照：雙火相映，看得分明卻不前行。她清楚所求為何，然執著於所知之處——光明而無動力，離之依附本性使然。
