注释
兼山為艮，口不能止。八面九口，長舌為斧——以讒言如利斧劈碎瑚璉宗廟之寶器，殷商因之絕後。「長舌」為《詩經》中讒毀之經典意象，舌如斧斤毀人毀國。瑚璉為宗廟禮器之珍，碎之即斷宗祀。殷商覆滅可歸咎於近讒之禍。從艮至頤（山下有雷），山上雷下，口之正用為慎言語、節飲食。此詩恰為其反面：口為凶器，養化為毀，言語之暴烈不亞於刀兵。
