A loving mother thinks of her children; feasting and bestowing, she wins the devotion of warriors. The barbarian tribes come to submit, thereby securing the kingdom.

注释
山上有木為漸，山上有澤為咸。慈母念子，饗賜得士，蠻夷來服，王國以安。影響力由內而外層層擴展：從母子之親到饗士之禮，再到遠方蠻夷之歸附。從漸至咸（虛受人），山頂之澤空虛以待，君子虛心接納。漸之循序培養關係，始於慈母之情，經以禮待人，終至遠方歸心。咸卦「山上有澤」，潤澤自高而下，感化無遠弗屆。漸進之德行如水之潤物，不急不迫，終成天下歸心之局。
