Nine in the fifth place means: The wild goose gradually draws near the summit. For three years the woman has no child. In the end nothing can hinder her. Good fortune.

上九 鴻漸于陸。其羽可用為儀。吉。
Nine at the top means: The wild goose gradually draws near the clouds heights. Its feathers can be used for the sacred dance. Good fortune.

焦氏易林
心狂老悖，聽視聾盲。正命无常，下民多孽。
Heart gone wild, old and deranged; sight and hearing, deaf and blind. The proper mandate has no constancy; the common people are mired in transgression.

注释
山上有木為漸，地中生木為升。心狂老悖，聽視聾盲。正命無常，下民多孽。升卦「積小以高大」，本為穩步上升之象。然詩中所見卻是其反面：昏聵之主耳不聰目不明，失去引領之能。從漸至升，漸進之功理應化為向上之力，然若主事者自身已朽，則向上之機制反成向下之頹。漸之穩步在此被腐蝕：老悖之主不知己之衰，民孽橫生而無人治理。漸進之上升須以清明為前提，否則升之動力亦不過推朽木入雲端。
