水在火上，既濟之象。此條為改寫，據原詩：「危坐至暮，請求不得。」——正襟危坐至日暮，所求無一應允。「膏澤不降，政戾民忒。」——恩澤不下行，政令乖戾，百姓受苦。朝堂充耳不聞，甘霖不降。從既濟至遯（天下有山），完成之序化為天下有山之遯——退避之道。朝門緊閉，雨露斷絕，智者退而不再叩門。遯非敗退，乃明辨之舉：有些門永不會開，及早抽身即為上策。
