The northern yin governs cold; hard ice that never warms. The ice keeper's spirit grows idle; great hail brings disaster.

注释
天地不交之否，北陰司寒——北方陰氣主宰嚴寒。堅冰不溫——冰凍不化。凌人情怠——掌冰之官懈怠失職。大雹為災——巨雹降臨成災。從否至蹇（山上有水），否之冰封更深化為蹇之水阻於山。蹇為四面受阻之卦，「反身修德」——外部既不可為，唯內省可恃。凌人（掌冰之官，見《周禮》）懈怠，則本應受控之寒威失馭為災。否世之蹇，非僅路阻，乃管控體系本身崩潰：冰不聽管，雹自天降，外在之兇險已超人力所及，唯有退而自修。
