He steps out the door bearing worry; eastward he climbs the hill of disaster. He meets with misfortune; by his own hand, calamity is made.

注释
風自火出，家人出門本應有所目的。然出門懷憂——一出家門便滿心憂慮。東上禍丘——往東登上災禍之丘。與凶相遇——迎面撞上凶險。自為災患——自招災禍。此詩以空間之推進刻畫厄運之加深：出門、上坡、入禍——步步加深。「禍丘」暗示一去不返之地。從家人至夬，澤上於天，決然向上。夬要求果斷行動以除去有害之物；然此詩所示乃不辨方向之衝撞——突破的不是困局，而是撞入災難。
