The pestle breaks while pounding millet; the lord does not get to eat. Scratching the heel when the head itches; it does nothing for the ailment.

注释
山上有水，蹇之象。折挺舂稷——杵折而舂稷，君不得食——工具壞了，飯做不成。頭癢搔跟——頭癢卻去搔腳跟。無益於疾——對病症毫無幫助。兩象共指一病：方法與問題不對路。杵折不能舂，搔跟不能止癢。從蹇至革，澤中有火，治曆明時。革卦要求在正確之時以正確之具行事——「巳日乃孚」。此詩之徒勞正是革命前之狀態：舊工具已廢，修修補補無用。唯有徹底更換方法——革之根本替代——方能解決拼湊所不能解者。
