Aged and bent-backed, teeth loose and shaking. Nearer the earth, farther from heaven; descending into the Yellow Springs.

注释
洊雷震動，地上有水為比。耋老鮐背——極老之人，背弓如龜甲之紋，歲月深刻於肉身。齒牙動搖，氣力將盡，飲食言語俱難。近地遠天——身漸俯向大地而離天日愈遠，終入黃泉幽冥之境。此詩不加修飾地寫極老衰亡之弧線：軀體向地而彎，齒牙——生命最後之標記——亦已鬆動。從震至比（地上有水），震之驚動化為水土相親之靜。死亦是一種聚合：老軀歸土，終與大地比附為一體。
