Duke Zhuang dealt unjustly, entering suit against me; the matchmaker violated propriety, bringing this blockage upon himself.

注释
山上有雷，小過之爭。不直莊公——指莊公之行有不正之處。與我爭訟——因此引發訟端。媒伯无禮——媒人或長輩不行正禮。自令塞壅——自招阻塞壅滯。此詩或涉春秋時期某國莊公在婚姻安排上違禮——中介失職，禮儀崩壞，遂成訟端。從小過至家人（風自火出），山上之雷化為風自火出之家人。家人主家庭之正——言有物、行有恆。然此詩反轉家人之理想：本應和諧之家政，因訟爭與失禮之媒妁而壅塞不通。
