上六 大君有命。開國承家。小人勿用。
Six at the top means: The great prince issues commands, Founds states, vests families with fiefs. Inferior people should not be employed.

地中有水，師之象，眾中擇賢以統軍。王孫季子相與孝友——王族與少子之間以孝悌相勉，兄友弟恭，為人倫之美。明允篤誠，品行光明磊落，無矯飾欺罔之行。升擢薦舉，為國幹輔：因德行而獲舉薦升擢，成為國之棟樑。從師至訟（天與水違行），所擢之賢面臨制度之張力：天水相背，爭端難免。然以孝友為根基、篤誠為底蘊，方能調停紛爭而非為之所噬。
