Lady Li slandered and schemed, plotting with the two wicked ones. She maligned the dutiful prince, harming the loyal and filial. But the carriage departed through the fine gate -- the merchant lord found joy.

澤中有雷，驪姬讒嬉——驪姬以讒言戲弄朝政。與二孽謀——與兩名同黨密謀。據《左傳》，驪姬為晉獻公寵妃，誣陷太子申生，致其自殺，重耳、夷吾被迫出奔。譖啄恭子——以讒言啄傷恭謹之太子。賊害忠孝——殘害忠誠與孝道。然詩境轉折：駕出嘉門，商伯有喜——或指重耳終於歸國為晉文公。從隨至震（洊雷），重雷震動天地。驪姬迫害下之隱忍，化為震之驚雷——流亡者蓄積之力終將爆發，復歸權柄。
