山上有水，蹇之象。六月睽睽——六月之時眾人翹首以盼。各欲有望——人人懷有期待。後來未壯——後繼者尚未成熟。俟時旦明——須待時機明朗方可行動。此詩戒急於集體期盼之際：欲望存而時未至，強行必敗。從蹇至小過，山上有雷，行過乎恭、喪過乎哀、用過乎儉。小過許小事成而大事須緩——「飛鳥遺之音，不宜上，宜下。」此詩精準對應：眾人翹望之時不可好高，唯以小而合時之舉自處，待天光大亮。
