牛耳聾蔽，不曉聲味。委以鼎俎，方始亂潰。
Ox-eared, deaf and shuttered; it understands neither sound nor savor. Entrusted with the cauldron and the chopping board, only then does ruin begin.

注释
木上有水，井賴識者掌之方能養人。然牛耳聾蔽，不曉聲味——既不辨聲亦不辨味，以此愚鈍之物主事何異於盲人執燈。委以鼎俎——將祭祀之鼎與砧板交予聾牛，皆須明辨者方能操持。方始亂潰——不勝其任，終至崩潰。從井至困（澤無水），有澤而無水。井之豐養若託非人，泉源非枯竭而是被庸者所堵。困之窘迫非因天災，乃因人禍。
