Nine in the fourth place means: The marrying maiden draws out the allotted time. A late marriage comes in due course.

上六 女承筐无實。士刲羊无血。无攸利。
Six at the top means: The woman holds the basket, but there are no fruits in it. The man stabs the sheep, but no blood flows. Nothing that acts to further.

然諾不行，欺紿誤人。使我露宿，夜歸溫室。神怒不直，鬼欲求獨。刺擊其目，反言自賊。
Promises unfulfilled, deceit misleads. I am made to sleep in the open; at night I return to the warm room. The spirits rage at injustice; the ghosts seek solitude. They strike at his eyes; his own words become his undoing.

澤上有雷為歸妹，山上有雷為小過。然諾不行，欺紿誤人，使我露宿，夜歸溫室。神怒不直，鬼欲求獨。刺擊其目，反言自賊。許諾不守，欺騙害人；被迫露宿，夜半方歸暖室。神靈怒其不正，鬼魂欲懲不義，刺其雙目，謊言反噬己身。從歸妹至小過，山上有雷，聲大而源小。小過「行過乎恭，喪過乎哀，用過乎儉」，以過度之謹慎應非常之時。然此詩中之「過」非恭儉之過，而是欺詐之過——背信棄義，神人共怒，自食其果。
