長夜短日，陰為陽賊；萬物空枯，藏於北陸。
Long nights, short days; yin preys upon yang. All things wither and empty; they are hidden in the northern land.

注释
地中有山，長夜短日——冬至之象。陰為陽賊——陰氣侵蝕陽光。萬物空枯——天地蕭條。藏於北陸——萬物退藏北方，蟄伏過冬。此為至暗時刻，生機隱於地下。從謙至漸（山上有木），木漸長於山上。悖論鮮明：詩述冬至之極暗，變卦言漸進之成長。然漸正始於此蟄伏之態——樹根在冬暗中生長，待春方出幹上升。謙之大地持守休眠之山，漸之緩展正從此靜止、此寒冷中啟動。居賢德善俗——漸之道始於冬藏。
