注释
山上有木為漸，地中有山為謙。蟠梅折枝，與母別離，絕不相知。漸長之枝被折，母子之緣斷絕。謙卦「裒多益寡」，本為美德之象，然此詩中之「謙」是被動的失去而非主動的退讓。山入地中，高者自低，然折枝之痛非甘心之退。從漸至謙，循序漸進之培育未必能保全果實：命運有時將山上之木連根折斷，母子永隔。漸之功在過程，而過程不許諾結局。
