She climbs the empty height and gazes on poverty; at dusk there is no food to eat. The eldest son garrisons the south; from me he is parted in life.

注释
風自火出，家人本應團聚。然登虛望貧——登高遠眺，所見盡是蕭條。暮食無食，至暮無炊。長子南戍——長子被徵往南方戍守，與我生分——生離死別，恐成永訣。詩寫飢荒與徵役交迫之慘：壯丁被徵，家中斷糧，隔著空茫的距離相望。從家人至隨，澤中有雷，雷入澤中而息。隨者，順時而動，日暮則入宴息。然此家已無可隨——唯有缺席。暮色中湖面之寂靜，正如被掏空的家庭，等待一個或許永遠不會的歸來。
