兼山為艮，高原峻嶺，陸地少泉。地勢雖高而乏水，草木蔥鬱於山麓，然嘉禾反遭旱炙。從艮至比（地上有水），雙山之孤高化為水覆大地之親和。詩揭示矛盾：山巍然獨立卻不能獨力養物，高原缺水，唯降格求通方能滋潤。此變示孤立雖壯觀卻使收成枯萎，唯山讓水行、水及於地，社群方能繁榮。
