Nine in the third place means: The wanderer's inn burns down. He loses the steadfastness of his young servant. Danger.

上九 鳥焚其巢。旅人先笑後號咷。喪牛于易。凶。
Nine at the top means: The bird's nest burns up. The wanderer laughs at first, Then must needs lament and weep. Through carelessness he loses his cow. Misfortune.

The virtue of benevolent rule, reverent and ceaseless. The city is built, the settlement complete; the people receive its blessings.

注释
山上有火，旅人遇仁政之邦。仁德之治日益恭敬，成都就邑——建城立國，百姓受其福澤。此為旅人之歸宿：流浪者終於落腳生根，建立社群，施行善政。「成都就邑」意味長途跋涉後終得安居之所。從旅至臨（澤上有地），大地覆於澤上，以寬厚之姿臨近萬民。臨卦「教思無窮，容保民無疆」——仁者臨民，無限包容。旅人之旅至此圓成：不再遠行，而是安頓身心，滋養左右之人。
