Six in the fifth place means: He shoots a pheasant. It drops with the first arrow. In the end this brings both praise and office.
第上爻
上九 鳥焚其巢。旅人先笑後號咷。喪牛于易。凶。
Nine at the top means: The bird's nest burns up. The wanderer laughs at first, Then must needs lament and weep. Through carelessness he loses his cow. Misfortune.

Cutting down the traces of wicked men, so virtue cannot prevail. Scorching drought brings disaster; the year's grain is greatly ruined.

注释
山上有火，惡人剷除德行之痕跡，使善道不通。炎旱為災——酷暑乾旱接踵而至，年穀大傷——莊稼盡毀。詩以道德敗壞與天災相應：善路被堵，天以酷熱懲之。非因果而為共振——阻塞之模式在每一層面重複。從旅至革（澤中有火），火在澤中，革命之象。革許以徹底更新，然此詩呈現革之必要前提：當道德管道被徹底堵塞，天之滋養不能流通，唯有變革方能疏通。
