李耳彙鵲，更相恐怯。偃爾以腹，不能距格。
The plum tree startles the magpie; each frightens the other in turn. Lying belly-down in submission; unable to resist or fight.

注释
地上有水，比也。李耳彙鵲——野貓與鵲鳥相遇。更相恐怯——互相驚嚇，層層加劇。偃爾以腹，不能距格——貓驚嚇過度翻身露腹，無力抵抗。場景近乎滑稽：兩種彼此無真正威脅之動物陷入相互恐嚇之螺旋，以癱瘓而非傷害告終。「李耳」此處多解為野貓而非老子。從比至豐（雷電皆至），本應雷電齊至，折獄致刑，果斷明斷。然詩所示恰為豐之反面：雙方凝固於互相威嚇之中，驚恐不生決斷，只生無助之僵滯。
