The thunder lord sets forth in procession, rumbling westward. Ceaseless rains pour down, flowing into a great river; the southern lands are laid to ruin.

注释
山上有水，蹇之象。雷君出裝，隱隱西行——雷神披掛出征，聲勢沉沉向西推進。霖雨不止，連綿數日，流為巨江——暴雨不歇，平地洪水滔天。南國以傷——南方諸地盡遭水患，田園淹沒。此非潤澤之甘霖，乃無度之洪。從蹇至臨，澤上有地，教思無窮、容保民無疆。臨卦本為上位者親臨下民之象。然此詩反其義：降臨者非教化仁澤，而是無情之洪水。不受節制之權力臨於下方，與天災何異。
