注释

地中有山,謙之象。受終文祖——於文德之祖廟中受禪讓之命,語出《尚書·舜典》「受終于文祖」。承衰復起,繼承衰敗之業而振興之。以義自閉——以道義為準則而自守退藏。雖苦無咎——雖歷艱辛而無過失。從謙至臨(澤上有地),君臨萬民,教思無窮。此詩申明:正統之權威以禮義與道德自律為更新之本,非以武力。苦而無咎,正因其苦出於義之自守。謙德化為臨民之道,衰而能復,此即受命者之本分。
