受終文祖，承衰復起；以義自閉，雖苦無咎。
Receiving the mandate at the ancestral temple; from decline one rises again. With righteousness one shuts oneself in; though bitter, no blame.

注释
地中有山，謙之象。受終文祖——於文德之祖廟中受禪讓之命，語出《尚書·舜典》「受終于文祖」。承衰復起，繼承衰敗之業而振興之。以義自閉——以道義為準則而自守退藏。雖苦無咎——雖歷艱辛而無過失。從謙至臨（澤上有地），君臨萬民，教思無窮。此詩申明：正統之權威以禮義與道德自律為更新之本，非以武力。苦而無咎，正因其苦出於義之自守。謙德化為臨民之道，衰而能復，此即受命者之本分。
