天與水違行，訟。爭訟不已，更相擊劍——由口舌之爭升級為刀劍相向。張季弱口——口才不敵，辯論落敗。被髮北走——披髮倉皇北逃，盡失體面，社會性之全面潰敗。從訟至損，山下有澤，君子以懲忿窒欲。損卦之旨在節制怒氣、抑制貪慾，自損以修德。詩示若無此節制之結果：訟變為鬥，辯變為暴，敗者失盡尊嚴而逃。損堅持：阻止升級之唯一途徑是自願之自我消減——在刀劍出鞘之前收斂攻擊性。
